REDUCING SINGLE-USE PLASTIC, ONE BAG AT A TIME
There’s no doubt single-use plastics are harming our planet.
More than 150 million tons of single-use plastics are produced every year, according to nonprofit Plastic Oceans International. And, eight million tons are dumped into the ocean each year. Plastic Oceans International reports that one million plastic bags are used worldwide every minute. The average “working life” of a plastic bag? Fifteen minutes.
It’s clear that global action is needed to fight the plastic crisis. That’s why sixty countries have already banned the use of plastic bags. But more needs to be done—and not just at the government level.
When it comes to making a lasting impact, small changes can have a huge effect. That’s where we come in.
